Once the nail is shorter, you can file it. Then you can proceed with a light sanding of the surface of the gel. once the “structural work” is finished, it is preferable to use a manual nail file, softer, with which your gesture is perfectly controlled.
The nail bath
It is possible to resort to soaking in a melting solution to dissolve the gel. The professional nail polish remover is usually composed of acetone. The soaking should last between 15 and 20 minutes.
